and the careers they lead to. I will give you a simple technique… that will help you find out, what stream is best for you!
Career Options after 1oth Standard
The 4 Main Streams
- Science (Maths): This stream emphasizes subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. It opens doors to careers in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Architecture, and even healthcare fields like Biotechnology.
- Science (Biology): This stream focuses on Biology along with subjects like Physics and Chemistry. It’s ideal if you’re interested in careers in Pharmaceuticals, Drug Research, Nursing, Bio-Technology, Physiotherapy, Veterinary Sciences, and more.
- Commerce: This stream centers on subjects like Business Studies, Accountancy, and Economics. It equips you for careers in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Management, and even Law.
- Arts & Humanities: This stream focuses on developing critical thinking, communication, and creativity. It caters to students interested in fields like Journalism, Content Writing, Public Relations, Advertising, Political Science, Literature, and even Finance.
Let’s start with Maths.
Maths Careers, Computer, Science, Engineering Or I.T (Information Technology).
But, some other lucrative careers, like… Architecture, Material Science, Defense Services, Finance… and even healthcare-related fields, like… Biotechnology. Having Maths as a subject in your 12th, also opens up the possibilities of pursuing various degrees. In fact, B.Sc in Economics; B.Sc in Actuarial Science; and even B.Com in Economics and Finance… require ‘Maths’ as a mandatory subject. not every degree requires Advanced Math Skills. Some require just a basic understanding of Math.
Now let’s move on to Biology.
Biology Careers Most of us think that you must choose PCB, only if you want to become a Doctor. But, even PCB students… have a wide range of careers to choose from, like… Pharmaceuticals, Drug Research, Nursing, Bio-Technology, Physiotherapy, Veterinary Sciences and more. People in these careers… play a pivotal role in society’s health and well-being; work on the conservation of wildlife;
contribute to drug research; and even help in solving crimes.
Moving onto Commerce!
Chartered Accountant (CA) is the most popular career for commerce students.
Commerce Careers But, they can also offer careers, like… Company Secretary (CS);
Cost and Management Accountant (CMA); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
The advantage commerce students have is flexibility… and variety. They can choose to sit between various career options, like… Finance, Banking, Accounting, Business etc. Some commerce students also choose to pursue Law.
Moving on to Arts and Humanities! This stream is all about critical thinking,
Arts/Humanities Careers communication, creativity and… understanding of how society works. If that’s even possible these days. Some popular career paths for this stream are… Journalism, Content Writing, Public Relations (PR); where you handle media, press releases. Advertising; where you will be involved in… Ad Campaigns, Market Research, Brand Managment. Then you have careers in… Political Science, Literature and even Finance. Neutral’ Careers. There are certain careers… that focus more on skills and experience, Careers like Digital Management, Content Writing, Sales, Event Management, Hotel Management, and even Law.
